Local Construction Focus
The Paisley Construction Scene
Paisley and the wider Renfrewshire area are seeing a surge in local infrastructure improvements, retail park upgrades, and new residential estates. With major ongoing investments like the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) near Glasgow Airport and extensive renovations around Paisley Abbey and the town centre, local contractors are actively recruiting. Securing your CSCS Green Card opens doors to numerous local contracting jobs without needing to commute far from home into Glasgow.
"Saved me the train fare into Glasgow! Took the exam from my bedroom in Foxbar. Currently working on the new housing estates near the airport. Highly recommend."

Here is the exact step-by-step process to getting fully qualified and allowed on site.

Paisley CSCS Training FAQs
Q: Are there local construction jobs in Paisley?
Yes, Paisley's ongoing urban regeneration projects and local housing developments require a steady stream of certified workers. From renovations near the Abbey to massive industrial developments near the Airport (AMIDS), the demand is strong.
Q: Do I have to travel into Glasgow to take the exam?
Not at all. With our fully remote package, you can take both the E-Learning modules and the final exam via remote invigilation from the comfort of your home in Paisley, saving you the train fare and commute.
Q: Does passing this course mean I immediately get my Green Card?
No. You must also independently book and pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test (often called the touchscreen test) which costs £22.50. This can be done before or after the Level 1 course, but it must be done. The final application for the physical CSCS Green Card costs £36.
Q: Where can I take the CITB Touchscreen test near Paisley?
There are Pearson VUE test centres in nearby Glasgow and Clydebank where you can sit the CITB Touchscreen test after you have completed our Level 1 qualification.
Q: Can I use this card to work in both Renfrewshire and Glasgow?
Yes, your CSCS Green Labourer card is a national qualification. You can use it to secure work on local sites in Paisley, or commute into Glasgow or Edinburgh for larger commercial projects.
Q: What is the total cost to get the card?
You will pay £130 for our fully online Level 1 course. Afterwards, you will pay £22.50 to take the CITB Touchscreen test, and finally £36 to CSCS for the card itself.
Q: Is this the official Highfield qualification?
Yes. Our remote course provides the official Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, which is the exact accredited qualification required by CITB to apply for your Green Card.
Q: How long does the card last?
The card is valid for 5 years. You do not need to retake the Level 1 course when renewing, but you will need to pass the CITB Touchscreen test again.
Q: What equipment do I need for the remote exam?
You simply need a quiet room in your house, a reliable internet connection, and a laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam and microphone so the invigilator can monitor your exam securely.
Q: What happens if I fail the remote exam?
Don't worry! We offer re-sit options. You will not need to repay the full £130 course fee, just a small fee for the invigilated exam re-sit.
